Performance Installation

2016

Window utilizes the rear projection of a window on a screen, showcasing the happenings within, which my live silhouette propagates in theatrical spectacle. Exploring notions of voyeurism and exhibitionism I perform various activities from within this simulated environment; ranging from the mundane (getting dressed, talking on the phone, reading) to elevated actions displaying increasing notions of paranoia, anxiety, and gestural absurdity. Playing with gradually exaggerated gesture and props, engaging in spontaneous choreography, and even physically interacting with the projection screen, I elevate the relational tension between the subject and the viewer; playing on the nature of the voyeur/exhibition. The shock of these disruptions serve to disrupt illusion through illusion, creating a cyclical paradox of shattered spectacle.
